Indian Hockey Player: Dhanraj Pillay
Indian hockey team has not produced only myths but it has also produced wizards, best performers and sorcerers. Indian hockey team is well known for best performing hockey players. Dhanraj Pillay is one of the best hockey players of Indian hockey team. His name has also been included in list of top ten hockey players. Dhanraj Pillay was born on july 16, 1968. He has appeared as hero of many epic Indian victories. Dhanraj Pillay’s birth place is Kirkee, Pune, Maharashtra, India.
Dhanraj was born as fourth son of Tamil parents Naglingam Pillay and Andalamma at Khadki in Maharashtra. He can fluently speak Tamil, Hindi, Marathi and English languages. Dhanraj Pillay’s entrance in international hockey was in 1989 when he played to represent the nation in the Allwyn Asia Cup in New Delhi.
Dhanraj Pillay also played for foreign clubs like the Indian Gymkhana (London), HC Lyon (France), BSN HC and Telekom Malaysia HC (Malaysia), Abhahani Limited (Dhaka) and HTC Stuttgart Kickers (Germany). He performed so well that he was highest goal scorer in the Bangkok Asian Games. Towards the end of his career Dhanraj played in Premier Hockey League for the Maratha Warriors for tow seasons. He received lots of Indian awards for his best performance.
Pillay is now trying to open a hockey academy at Bobmay. He is heading a drive to collect empty plastic printer cartridges in Bobmay. He sells these cartridges to a European recycling firm. I pray for his efforts to make this academy and introduce new talent like him.
